Court Ambassadors

Friendly volunteers who help players learn GLP's community conventions — basic rules, scoring, stacking, and court etiquette.

GLP court ambassadors are critical to the smooth running of open pickleball play at Green Lake East and to the development of real community there. Lots of responsibilities and absolutely no authority; it's a thankless job with no perks! Treat them well.

Current ambassadors are Nicole Bideganeta ("HB"), Matt Repplier, and Tri Hua — say hi when you see them at the courts, and meet them on the people page.

What ambassadors do

  • Hosting — welcome new players, explain the stacking system, help beginners get into an appropriate first game, and answer questions about funding, court reservations, and the open-play system.
  • Funding — put out the donation jar and encourage donations via cash or Venmo.
  • Court management — deploy the portable nets when needed, return equipment to the lock box at day's end, and encourage players onto court #3 (closest to the lake) first, since it can't be reserved.
  • Housekeeping — stow lost valuables in the lockbox, set lost-and-found items by the donation jar, and empty the court trash at the end of the day.

Splitting the eight courts when the queue backs up? The court calculator works out the fairest split between regular and challenge play.

Want to become an ambassador?

GLP is volunteer-run, and ambassadors are the heart of the welcome we extend to new players. If you know the game, love the community, and want to help it grow, volunteer with us or get involved.

Grab a paddle. We'll see you at the lake.

Open play for all skill levels, no membership — just show up, stack your paddle, and rotate in.
