Effort is made to reserve the courts (tennis courts 2 and 3, which each contain 2–4 pickleball courts) in the late afternoon or evening on weekdays and in the morning on weekends.
GLP (and other) reservations
GLP reserves courts for open pickleball play — all skill levels welcome — from late March to early October during peak hours: ~5:30 PM till dark on weekday evenings and 10:00 AM to noon on weekends and holidays. Occasionally a private group will reserve a Green Lake East tennis court for either pickleball or tennis play; check the live zitnr court calendar for real-time reservations when one or more of the courts will be unavailable for open play.
Reading the zitnr calendar
The zitnr.com calendar (a volunteer community project) shows every reservation on the Green Lake East courts, pulled from Seattle Parks' reservation system. One thing to know: the reservation system doesn't publish who booked a court, so zitnr labels bookings "other reservation(s)" regardless of who made them — GLP's own reserved blocks (evening and weekend open play, Beginner Welcome Courts) show up there too. A reservation during a posted GLP block is us; anything outside our posted schedule is a private rental.
Blanchet High School tennis
During the spring season, Blanchet High School's junior varsity tennis team uses the courts after school for practices and matches. Court closures for the tennis schedule are announced in our news updates.
Claiming an occupied court
If picklers arrive when a court is occupied by tennis players, simply lean a spare paddle on the net to indicate that you claim that court when their allotted time is over — 1 hour for singles, 1½ hours for doubles, from the time you placed a paddle against their net.
